PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland police called the bomb squad to check a suspicious device in North Portland Monday morning.

Officers responded to the Hereford House food pantry, located at 7704 N. Hereford Avenue, around 10:40 a.m. to check a suspicious item on the steps. Police called for the bomb squad after briefly checking the item.

Police told some people in the area to stay indoors.

The bomb squad moved the device to another location in order to detonate it.

No one was hurt.
