Police: Small pipe bomb explodes behind N. Portland restaurant

PORTLAND, Ore. – A bomb squad said an explosion behind a North Portland restaurant was caused by a small pipe bomb.

Police said the small explosion occurred behind Tom’s Pizza & Sports Bar at 2630 North Lombard Street at around 9:15 a.m.

Officers found evidence of a small explosion. No one was hurt and property damage was minor, police said. The Metropolitan Explosives Disposal Unit was called in to investigate.

Sgt. Pete Simpson said police don't have any information about a suspect or a motive. There does not appear to be any danger to the community, he said.
