MADRAS, Ore. – An Oregon City man died after his Jeep crashed along Highway 26 south of Madras early Sunday morning, state police said.
A person who lives nearby spotted the crashed vehicle about 100 feet off the highway after waking up Sunday morning. Police found 50-year-old Scott Joseph Young dead inside the Jeep when they arrived.
Police said the vehicle was hidden by brush and had likely been there for several hours before it was found.
Troopers said Young lost control of the Jeep and it struck a culvert, causing it to go airborne. The Jeep rolled and came to rest on its top with Young underneath it.
Young was not wearing a seat belt, police said. It’s unclear what caused him to lose control.
