Police: Armed man grabs cash register during Dutch Bros. robbery

SALEM, Ore. – Police arrested a Salem man who they said used a small knife to rob a coffee stand Saturday night.

The suspect, wearing a bandana over his face, climbed through a window of a Dutch Bros. stand located at 525 Wallace Rd. NW and threatened one of the employees with a knife, according to police. He grabbed the cash register and ran away.

No one was hurt during the robbery.

Police said several witnesses saw the suspect running away with the cash register and called police. The witnesses helped officers and a Marion County K-9 unit track the suspect down. A Polk County sheriff’s deputy also helped search for the suspect, who was found hiding in a supply yard.

Police arrested Juan Carlos Palacio, 24, and took him to the Polk County Jail. Palacio faces charges including armed robbery and attempted assault.
