Salem police arrest man after clothing store robbery

SALEM, Ore. – Salem police arrested a 20-year-old man who they said robbed a clothing store at gunpoint Friday night.

Employees of Top to Bottom were chasing the suspect when officers arrived at the scene, according to Lt. Keith Blair.

The suspect, wearing a black hoodie and a bandanna over his face, robbed the store just before 9 p.m., Blair said. The suspect ran away from the store while employees followed him.

Officers caught and arrested Aurelio Sandoval in the parking lot of a nearby business. Sandoval is a transient from the Los Angeles area, police said. He was charged with robbery and possession of methamphetamine. Police took Sandoval to the Marion County Jail.

The gun was not found.
