Woman run over twice and trapped under car in Salem

SALEM, Ore. -- A woman walking was taken to the hospital Sunday night after she was hit by a minivan and then a car, and then pinned under that car, according to Salem Police.

Salem firefighters on scene said it took them 14 minutes to get the woman out from under the car’s axle. She was unconscious at the time, they said.

Emergency responders got the call about 9 p.m. about the woman hit along Northeast Hawthorne Avenue near Livingston. The street was blocked off for several hours for crash investigators.

Both drivers stayed on the scene.

The driver of the car didn’t see the woman in the street after the van already hit her, according to the driver’s brother Sunday night. The van’s driver unsuccessfully tried to flag him down and they both called 9-1-1 when they realized what happened, the driver’s brother told KATU. The family said they're praying for the woman hit.

Late Monday, Salem Police identifed the woman as Monica Cebreros, 19, of Salem.
