The detour along Water Avenue by OMSI features sidewalks and a bike lane.

PORTLAND, Ore. – The busy bike and pedestrian path along the Willamette River behind OMSI will be closed for the next year as crews work on the new light rail bridge.

A section of the Eastside Greenway trail along the Willamette will be detoured until June 30, 2014. Construction crews are building piers for the new Portland-Milwaukie light rail bridge and then will rebuild the trail.

Bicyclists and pedestrians looking to get past OMSI to and from the Springwater Trail will find an alternate route on Water Ave., which has bike lanes and a sidewalk. You can connect to Water from Clay Street on the north end and from SE 4th Ave. on the south end.

The section of the riverfront trail between Clay Street and OMSI will still be open, but only for local access to the boat dock, OMSI and the jetboat dock.
