PORTLAND, Ore. -- A security guard at Portland Adventist Medical Center in Southeast Portland was knifed by a patient Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
The incident happened in a patient room at the medical center, 10123 S.E. Market St. The security guard had responded to a report of a patient being disruptive when the incident happened, a hospital official said.
The guard suffered minor cuts to the hand. The patient also had self-inflicted injuries, police said.
The patient, 40-year-old Timothy Evanger, was restrained and received medical treatment for his injuries. He was then booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of second-degree assault and second-degree attempted assault.
