Power lines spark small fire after semi hits tree in SE Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. – Power lines sparked a small fire after a semi hit a tree in Southeast Portland Wednesday morning, firefighters said.

Crews closed Southeast Washington Street between Grand Avenue and MLK Boulevard.

Firefighters said the truck hit a tree, knocking it onto the road. The tree fell onto some power lines and caused them to spark. The sparks started a small fire, which crews quickly extinguished.

Power crews arrived and began fixing the power pole.

The street was reopened by 6 a.m.
