Missing girl, 14, found safe in SW Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. – A missing 14-year-old girl who police feared was in danger was found safe Sunday afternoon.
Portland police found Ebony Peters in Southwest Portland, according to Sgt. David Thompson with the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
She was not hurt. Thompson did not release further details.
Peters was last seen on Jan. 11 leaving her mother’s Aloha house to go to the library supposedly with a trusted friend, but that friend never went to the library.
Her mother, Roxann Dentler, said her daughter is developmentally delayed, has adolescent bipolar and that she's a five-year-old emotionally.
Her family and friends passed out flyers trying to find Peters, especially after someone spotted her with older men on the MAX.
Police said Peters will soon be reunited with her mother.
This story will be updated with more information as we learn it.
thanks GOD
Thank God! I hope whoever's responsible for her being alone learned a valuable lesson, and if anyone hurt her I hope they will be found and punished to the highest extent of the law and/or otherwise.
Thank God she's okay!

"Going to the library" was a great excuse for doing whatever I wanted.......back in the day.
Everyone keeps mentioning "walking the streets to the library alone"...the article specifically says "with a trusted friend" that did not go to the library. Either they need to reconsider what "trusted" means, or find different friends...sounds like not quite as trustworthy as they thought.
If she's a five year old emotionally why is she being allowed to walk the streets by herself? There are some real slimeballs out there.....
Glad this worked out.
Glad she's home, and hope she and her parents learned something from whatever happened.
To the parents of this 14 years old girl, you should watch her and never let her go somewhere by herself period. Hope this time lessons are learned. I agreed with Granny4life.
@Sunny did you read the article - she went with a trusted friend
@ @Mike_J  no, she was supposed to MEET up with her "friend". Either way, I would have drove her, or rode the max WITH her. My son is 12, but mentally is 6. I would NEVER allow him to leave with out me!!
@Chante Haney  @Mike_J NO she went with a trusted friend. You ppl make me sick! So quick to judge her mother when you know NOTHING but what the news wants you to know!Â
Â
We were looking for Ebby's since the evening she never came home why don't YOU ask the police why they wouldn't make a report. Why don't you ask the news why they refused to air her story until A WEEK later!!!
We have a child like this that is 17 and male we live in a very small safe town, I have never allowed him to go to the library to meet someone. Â We take him where he needs to be I would suggest that this parent do the same thing. Â These children should never be on there own even at home. Â
@granny4life YOU ppl really need to read the story SHE was WITH a TRUSTED friend
Â
Again so quick to judge when you only know what the NEWS tells you! SHAME on all you! You sound like high school gossip girls!Â
Â
Â
@granny4life Granny, you know not all parents can watch their kids or have back up at all times.  I am sure her mother was doing what she thought was right and sent her with someone she trusted.
I have a bipolar emotionally immature granddaughter and it is a real burden for her single mother who works. We do the best we can. I think it is unfair to judge others by how we can afford to care for our own. Â This girl will probably never be able to take care of herself in a responsible manner.
@my2cents Bipolar is far different from a child with Autism that has the mind of a  5 year old, per article, I am not trying to judge other parents, I am saying that if you have a child like that she should not be left home alone, NO child 5 years old should be left home alone and certainly should not be walking to a library by them selves.  There are many services in Washington County for single parents that must work.  I watch my child at all times that he is not in school if you cant watch your child maybe you should make other arrangements. Â
@Somonecaresaboutsomething it says, she was going to MEET up with her "friend", not leaving with.
@granny4life @my2cents and I do believe I read that she has adolescent BiPolar
@granny4life  @my2cents - I do believe the article says she was going with a trusted friend - NOT alone.  Per article.....
I am glad this girl was found safe and apparently unharmed. Her safe return defies all statistics and I am guessing there is more to this story. The bottom line is whomever is responsible for this girl should be very grateful and redouble their efforts and commitment to keep this girl safe until such time she can take care of herself in a responsible manner.
you home
Rethink who is allowed to take care of this young lady. The so called friend isn't really a friend it would appear.
@RalphCramden Gosh, ya' think?? Easy pickings - get her to the CARES Unit at OHSU ASAP...
@boned  @RalphCramden You ppl make me sick making all these judgments when you only know what the media wants you to know.Â
Â
I'm sure her family would be LOVE IT if you find an open bed!!!Â
This is good news
Happy she's home!
 @Chong Yea, home...
I'm so glad to read this. The Trash didn't win today.
Yes!!! This is fantastic!Â
VERY happy to learn that she has been found and she's OK..! Â Â :-)
 @margay1 Is she??
A happy ending.
Yay!!!
There is of course more to this story. Or was she with two men and then one man at different times while she was lost?Â
Â
God bless her safe return. God bless this young girl. God continue to keep her safe.Â
@englishdaisy - As someone who mentions God three times in this post, your comments are anything other than Godly.
