Update: Police said Wednesday that 17-year-old Jasmine Hayes returned home and is safe.
The Portland Police Bureau Missing Persons Unit needs the public’s help to find a missing medically fragile girl.
Jasmine Hayes left her home Monday afternoon near Gabriel Park in Southwest Portland, according to Portland police.
The 17-year-old girl’s family says she may be suffering from a medical condition that could endanger her welfare if it is not treated.
Detectives believe Hayes left her home voluntarily. They say there is no sign of foul play and that she left on foot.
There is also the extra concern of the cold temperatures in the forecast for the Portland area, which could make Hayes’ medical condition worse.
Officers from Central Precinct have been searching in the area near her home using Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) technology.
Hayes is described as a white female, 17 years old, 5'5", weighing 95 pounds. She has shoulder-length, brown hair and hazel eyes.
She was last seen wearing brown wool pants, a dark brown fleece jacket, an orange or gold-colored knit cap and a white scarf. She may also be carrying a white bed sheet.
Call 911 if you have any information about Hayes’ location. You can also contact Detective Mike Weinstein, at (503) 823-0446, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
