Tigard police arrest five in prostitution sting

TIGARD, Ore. – Tigard police arrested five men in a prostitution sting last week.

Police said detectives and officers converged on a Tigard area hotel on May 16. They earlier placed two ads online advertising prostitution and said they received 75 calls from interested men within 24 hours.

Tigard police spokesman Jim Wolf said prostitution is mostly arranged online. Police have received complaints about suspected prostitution at several Tigard businesses.

Police are planning to conduct more prostitution stings in the future, Wolf said. Police say prostitution is not a victimless crime and it’s likely to be connected to human trafficking.
