Police: Man fires several shots inside apartment; no one hurt

WEST LINN, Ore. – West Linn police said a man with mental health issues who thought someone was breaking into his apartment fired several shots early Tuesday morning.

No one was hurt.

The man thought someone was breaking into his apartment, located in the 19300 block of Robin Circle, according to police spokesman Neil Hennelly.

"It was not a home invasion robbery, it was a mental health crisis with this man," Hennelly said. "He imagined that there were people breaking into his home and armed himself. He fired off numerous handgun rounds through the walls of his apartment."

Police arrived and convinced the man to come outside, where officers took him into protective custody. Hennelly said police are getting the man help.

The man’s name has not been released.
