PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Oregon's unemployment rate may be at 12 percent, but the Oregon Employment Department says there still are jobs out there to be filled.

The department lists the fields with the most openings as retail sales, fast food, waiters and waitresses, cashiers and nursing.

The department says there are more than 4,600 job openings in those fields. Retail sales has 1,315 of them.

Salaries in four of the categories tend to range from about $20,000 to just under $28,000 a year. Nursing salaries average more than $71,000 a year, but require significant training. Most nursing schools have waiting lists.
