PORTLAND, Ore. - Freebies are nice in these tough times and a special promotion for free camping at some of Oregon's state parks will certainly help folks enjoy the outdoors this summer.

From now through Sept. 30, you can camp at one of Oregon's 20 first-come, first served state parks during the week and get three nights for the price of two.

"Camping in an Oregon state park is a great bargain and this is a way to thank customers who have made it their tradition,' said Jennifer McCormick with the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.  "Being outdoors in a state park campground is what summer is all about.  Camping really is an Oregon value."

All you have to do to claim your discount is print out a coupon and take it with you.  The offer is good Sunday through Thursday nights, is limited to one per customer per stay and excludes yurts and cabins.  The coupon is good exclusively at state parks where reservations are not accepted.

"We're hoping people will discover the special experiences they can have camping at places that may not be as well known as some of our reservations parks," said McCormick.  "These parks are treasures and we want to encourage everybody to discover them for themselves."
