150 city staffers will be out of a job soon

PORTLAND, Ore. – The City of Portland’s Bureau of Development Services will shed 50 percent of its staff, leaving 150 workers out of a job by October 1.

Layoffs at the bureau began last Friday. The Oregonian reported the cuts happened because of the current construction slump.

The Bureau of Development Services reviews plans, issues permits and inspects the city’s construction projects.
