No retirement for 86-year-old Seattle manual laborer
- SEATTLE - Tuesday marks 60 years on the job for 86-year-old Al Aurilio at Pacific Iron and metal in Seattle where he still lifts boxes of scrap metal.

Aurilio started on the job as a World War II veteran at a $1.05 per hour. He now earns about $13 per hour.

Four times a week he wakes up at three in the morning at his Kirkland home and puts in a five to 11-hour shift as warehouse supervisor. He directs workers who sort car radiators, air conditioners, aluminum wire and other metal.

He says he is not ready to retire. He does not want to sit around.

When he is not working at Pacific Iron, Aurilio volunteers for the Hopelink organization delivering food to needy families.
