FALL CLASSES KICK OFF AT THE ARTS CENTER

Hillsboro, Oregon – As school kicks off and everyone gets back into a regular schedule with the fall, the Cultural Arts Center provides some great chances to develop those creative skills with classes for all ages. Drawing in Color
7 – 12 years old
Learn the basics of shape, line and form to create a beautiful work of art that will demand framing. Returning students will expand their abilities with new compositions. Materials are provided. Constance Adams

Beginning Youth Painting Studio
8 – 12 years old
Students in this class are welcome to choose any of three water based painting mediums: watercolors, acrylics or water soluble oils. Local artist Jan Su will teach the magic techniques of painting using your choice of subject matter. Basic materials supplied. Jan Su

Youth Wheel Throwing
8 – 13 years old
Explore working with clay techniques on a potter’s wheel, that have been used to make useful items throughout history. Working with your hands can improve eye-hand coordination and fine motor skills – and it’s a lot of fun! Materials are provided. Jen Champlin

Raku Firing
16 years – Adult
Students will hand build vessels or sculptural work and participate in the exciting firing process. A variety of hand forming methods and glazing techniques will be demonstrated. Materials are provided. Jacey Dunaway

Glass Mosaic Mirrors
13 years – Adult
Students will learn to use their sense of color and design to create a one of a kind mosaic mirror. They will learn basic glass cutting, how to arrange their glass pieces to form a pattern and the process of using grout to finish their unique piece of art. Materials are provided. Lila Lindquist

Altered Book Art
13 years – Adult
An altered book is a creative mixed media form of artwork. Take old or new books and transform them into original works of art. Utilize drawing, painting, collaging, stamping, journaling and other inventive processes. Some materials will be provided. Alice Hill
