When I was a young man, my parents introduced me to British naturalist David Attenborough.  His production work in the field of biology is equal to the television programs produced by physicist Carl Sagan.  Attenborough's beautifully shot and insightful programs introduced me to natural history and created my love for nature documentaries.

Disney also has a history of presenting the natural world on film and the company is now partnering with the British team responsible for the amazing Planet Earth series.  This collaboration has resulted in the feature film Earth.

Narrated by James Earl Jones, Earth tells the story and struggles of three families; a polar bear family struggling to survive in the Arctic, a pair of whales on a long migration and a herd of elephants attempting to navigate a dry and parched African plain.  The film follows their unique creatures and documents their precarious lives.

Some are the hunters while others are the hunted, but all face dangers, some from predators and others from Human-influenced changes to their environment.  Regardless of what you might think about controversial topics like global warming, you're likely to find these animals' stories dramatic and compelling.

As you would expect from the producers of Planet Earth, the high definition photography is unmatched, producing some of the most vivid images viewers will ever see of our amazing planet and the animals that inhabit it with us.

Along with the best cameras available, the producers have unleashed an army of aerial vehicles to capture some truly breathtaking shots.  Earth looks absolutely stunning on a high definition television and you'll find nothing to complain about in terms of quality.

With my love of natural history, you'd think Earth would be something right up my alley.  In some ways, it is, but I have a few problems with it.  My biggest complaint is that Earth is mostly a re-edited version of the Planet Earth series.  The producers have taken footage from the groundbreaking television series and condensed it.
