Annual Pet Costume Contest at Coastal Farm
Coastal Farm is holding its annual Pet Costume Contest on Thursday, Oct. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. There are categories for small, medium, and large pets, as well as a non-dog and non-cat category, and an overall best costume award. Come join the fun at all Coastal Farm locations, including ones in Eugene, Oregon City, Albany, Woodburn and more. The farm donates the $1 costume entry to local animal shelters.

Fort Stevens Wild Mushroom Hikes
Afraid to hunt mushrooms? Here's your chance to get the guidance of a park ranger while identifying and hunting wild mushrooms in the forest at Oregon's northwestern tip this Friday and Saturday. Groups meet Friday at 1 p.m. at the end of DeLaura Beach Lane and 2 p.m. at the picnic shelter at Coffenbury Lake. Free.

International Cat Show + Canned Food Drive
In a city known as one of the top 10 cat-friendliest in the U.S., celebrate the 20th year for this international all-breed cat show this Halloween weekend, Oct. 30 to Nov. 1, at the Holiday Inn at the Portland Airport Conference Center. This year's show has a special focus on the Bengal cat. Tickets are $2 to $3 with two cans of human food, $5 without.

Halloweentown USA
Every weekend in October, Oregon's Olde Towne St. Helens becomes Halloweentown, with shopkeepers in costume from 3 p.m. Friday to 3 p.m. Sunday. Wear your own costumes, vote for scarecrows with canned food donations to Columbia County Food Bank and enter kids 3 to 12 into the Halloweentown Coloring Contest.

$2 "First Sundays" at OMSI
It's just $2 per person to get into the Oregon Museum of Science & Industry this Sunday. It's open 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. this Nov. 1, with tickets including all of the regular OMSI exhibits plus this month's featured fright-fest Scream!, reputed to be a physiological, neurobiological and sociological aspects of fear. Movies, rides and the submarine are not included in the $2 price.
