This week through 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, the Assistance League is holding a fund-raising dance-off between local celebrities for its children's program. Dancers. Vote for your favorite by donating at least $10 (100% deductible). Each dollar equals one vote for the dancer of your choice.

Arendt's Christmas Tree Farm in Aurora, Ore.
The Christmas tree season is kicking off! On Saturday, Nov. 21, the Arendt family opens its tree farm along with other farms in the area. This one is halfway between Portland and Salem off I-5 exit 278 (then 4 miles west). It's $25 each for any size organic Noble or Frazer fir. This farm is reportedly the state's sole organic tree farm.

Dig into South Portland's great outdoors. Join the Riverbanks Work Party at Willamette Park's south-end picnic shelter starting 9 a.m. Saturday. Want an inside look at a local turn-of-the-century Multnomah County jail? You'll find it - and the historic Heslin House Museum (left) - open for tours 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at 60 Main St. in Fairview, Ore. Find photographs, maps, artifacts. Donations go to the Fairview Rockwood Wilkes Historical Society.



 

Free Parking Downtown Promotion
Get to downtown Portland between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Saturday, and park free for the rest of the day at any Smart Park garage downtown. The first 150 shoppers at participating retailers to spend $50 get a $50 American Express gift card from the  kiosks at 401 S.W. Morrison St. or 719 S.W. Morrison St. (1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday only). Smart Park locations.
