Childhood Obesity

Childhood Obesity

Excessive weight in children and adolescents is becoming an increasingly serious problem. In the United States, 13 percent of children aged 6 to 11 years and 14 percent of adolescents aged 12 to 19 years are overweight. The percentage of adolescents considered overweight is now three times higher than it was 20 years ago. Genetics, unhealthy diets and sedentary lifestyles are major contributors to childhood obesity.
