Kyle and his father and granfather took a spring fishing trip for the opening week of halibut season to Neah Bay, Washington. They spent 2 long and unproductive days fishing for halibut before the first and only halibut made it to the boat. The lucky fisherman was 8 year old Kyle Dean of Glenwood, Washington. On May 17th, Kyle was fishing outside of Neah Bay at the famed Garbage Dump hole in about 300' of water. During the 20 minute fight the fish was able to make one run to the bottom after the arm weary angler nearly got him to the surface. The 61# angler was using herring and squid skirt when the unlucky 70#, 57' halibut fell victim to this determined angler.
