Thanks to everyone who sent in an email to KATU about the passing of Jim Bosley. Many of them appear below. We do not edit or revise the content of viewer emails in any way, however, we do not publish last names online.

I did a weather report in high school for a class project and I tried my best to imitate the Boz, I almost shaved my head also.
Today I rate the day 1!
So Long Jim.

Jim was responsible for us becoming attached to KATU when we moved to the Portland area.  He made weather come alive for us.  We travelled to Bolivia one summer where our daughter and her husband were missionaries.  At that time Jim wanted his viewers to send weather reports from countries around the world where they were traveling so I did.  We weren't home to see if Jim used it or not but we were connected to KATU for its unique way of connecting with their viewers.

Thank you for giving us this opportunity to express our appreciation for a wonderful and communicative weatherman.  We lived in the Gladstone/Milwaukie area for over 30 yrs.

The boz had a laugh much like my grandfather.
Even though he had a lower voice, his laugh would be in a much higher tone.
And could he laugh!! :))
Boz's laugh was truly genuine, not phony.
He knew how to have fun, and when not to laugh inappropriately.
And I couldn't help but remember Bob the Weathercat this morning.
How many weathercats did KATU have?
And didn't one of the later cats go to work for another station? I hope he made more money!!
Watching the weather at KATU for all those years was a truly fun time.
How do I rate today after hearing of Jim Bosley's passing?
A 1.
Just wait until this weekend.
10's all around. The Boz wouldn't have it any other way.
Jim

Jim Bosley, was a most treasured Master Of Ceremonies , for the Miss Oregon Pageant, I had the honor and definite pleasure of Producing that show for 32 years, and Jim was with us each year for about ten of those years!.....He had a very special way of making each contestant feel like they were already wearing the crown, the contestants all loved him. He had a special style and class as he would appear in his tuxedo, make the audience immediately feel at home, of couple of the years he actually danced in some production numbers....and of course was a big hit!.....Jim was such a part of that Miss Oregon Production family, he was "one of a kind"", in my estimation......Several of us came to KATU, on his last day of broadcasting the AM Northwest.....Our production staff will never forget him! We all did our last Miss Oregon Pageant together in 1996........Jeanne

I met Boz several times towards the end of his career--- he was a consummate professional, friendly and warm and always considerate to the public----who were constantly wanting to shake his hand.
He will be missed.

I will always remember watching Mr. Bosley on AMNorthwest while drinking my morning tea and feeding
my baby son. He always made me laugh and I couldn't start my day without AMNorthwest! He always
reminded me of my dad, whom I love very much! I missed him on the news after he retired and often
thought of him as I watched the weather report. We were just thinking of The Boz last week . We will
miss him.

Can't believe that The Boz has gone. So sad. He was so much fun. As a matter of fact...know that guy you've been showing who is going around correcting everyone's spelling and grammar? The Boz would be laughing saying.."that guy sounds like Ray Barone! And he can't spell either!" LOL  That guy does sound like Raymond :)
Suzan

always enjoyed Mr..Bosley's weather report .
Rain or Sun Mr..Bosley always had a smile on his face.
He will be greatly missed.
Best Regards,
Elizabeth

Born & raised here in Portland...grew up watching the Boz and his weather reports...on one occasion, Jim missed his forecast with our response being... "Dear Boz...just shoveled 3 feet of partly cloudy off the front porch"...

The Boz gave respect and credibility to the reporting of the weather...when it was a big deal, he treated it as such...when it wasn't you got Jim at his best...entertaining...

He will be missed...

I grew up watching Jim with my Grandmother. She never missed a day of AM Northwest either. She instilled in us the importance of keeping up with the news but also enjoyed Jim’s weather forecast because he made her smile. She would say that The Boz was just an average Joe that made the worst weather days ok to live with.
My son is the person that notified me about the Boz passing. He watched Jim with me each morning until he retired.
We will miss you Jim!
Judi

I remember watch The Boz all while growing up.  My favorite memory was his Christmas Eve weather forecasts where he would pick a spot on the satellite picture and say that was Santa Claus on his way to the Portland area.  He would tell the kids they needed to get to bed and this was during the 5pm newscast!  I have always missed his weather forecasts since he retired.  A legend is gone too soon.
Fred

It's hard to underestimate the impact The Boz had.
As his producer for six years, I remember being with him at Disneyland in Los Angeles taping segments for AM Northwest...and even in LAX Airport people would stop us, point and exclaim: "The Boz!"
Here's to Portland's original Rock Star, Jim won't soon be forgotten.

When I had to leave Portland back in 1977 one of the last people I saw on TV was The Boz. When I finally came back home in 1996 to take care of my father, I turned on the news and lo and behold it was The Boz. The years melted away and I knew I was back where I belonged. I even emailed him and lo and behold he took the time to email me back. The interest he showed on the TV was real, he was a real genuine gentleman.
I so enjoyed his humor, intelligence and my goodness his art [where had he hidden that ability]....
Even though he was not on TV or heard from much these last few years, there is an empty space in my heart and in the heart of Portland. I will miss The Boz. So maybe the rain these past few days and the days to come is Portland crying for one of her own.
With tears and love for his TV family and his family,
Lynne

I can remember watching the news in the sixties as a child.....I watched it simply because I liked the friendly weatherman and he always made me smile.
He will be missed,
Laura

One time when Jim Bosley was doing an Art Show in Lake Oswego, my husband & I went to it and saw him. It was great. I am very sad the news of Jim Bosley passing. He was always a great weatherman and loved him on AM Northwest. I will miss him.

For several years, jim did a Halloween remote from our house.  My wife would cook a large pot of chili and corn bread for all of the family that would stop by.  I would generally get home from work around six pm just before the waves of children
would begin.  If I were late,   Jim would take my place at the table
and eat with the family. We recall him with great fondness.

When I was a young girl, I remember running to watch Jim Bosley’s weather report on our black and white TV. He was right up there with the Flintstone’s for me. My deepest condolences to his family and KATU friends. He will be missed, but how fortunate we were to grow up with him.
Becky

As I opened my KATU web site this morning, I saw the saddest news. The news of The Boz passing away. I grew up most of my adult life there around Portland, about 25+ years ...and he WAS the weather. I moved to Kansas in 2003 but I read the KATU website everyday. This was a sad day. My regards to his freinds at the station and his family.
Patti

I was saddened by the news of "The Boz" passing. I remember watching him as a child and through adulthood. A true Protland legend and ambassador. Thanks Boz, we all owe you a heartfelt thank you for being the man you always were.
CJL

I worked with Jim for several years on AM Northwest. When AM Northwest traveled to Hawaii, at least 10 people recognized and greeted him as we taped our segments, even notable psychologist and author, Wayne Dyer! Jim was a funny, smart and good man, both on camera and off.
Carolyn

My husband and I still remember one of Jims weather reports..he had become exasperated with the weather sneaking in rain when he had declared a sunny weekend. He evidently had received some complaints from people that had their weekends ruined because of it, so in response, made this statement..." If you want to know what the weather is going to do just look out your window." Best advice he ever gave...Thanks Jim for the years of laughter and our condolences to all of your family and friends....

One of my favorite memories of Jim Bosley is how he would describe the weather during the springtime here- there were days we would have sunshine, rain, hail, & even snow all in the same day!! When asked to explain this, he would reply "There is no such thing as "spring" here in the northwest- spring is winter, trying to become summer!" I will always remember that.
All our best wishes to Karen & the family during this time- you will be in our prayers and thoughts, and know that we all will never forget "The Boz". He was a great person.
Mary

Oh my gosh there was only one BOZ and he did a great job in the weather department and
when he was on vacation AM NW was not the same. He had a style all his own. He always made
me chuckle whether it was the weather or something he said or did on AMNW. I missed
him when he retired and often wondered what he was doing at certain times of the year. Like
in a warmer climate, doing artsy things. He was a talented man. My best to his wife, Karen
and the rest of his family. There will be no one like him

I am 51 years old and basically grew up with the Boz. He Was Part Of The Family evey evening and when he went to do AM NORTHWEST it was natural to watch him at that time spot no matter what the other channels tried to put up against him. It has carried over through the year that I watch K2 even now out of habit for weather and news. It's a good thing Ronda and Rod are almost as entertaining and honest like him but with him he is an ICON.
Pat

Wow, how sad but how grateful for such a full life.
The weather can be a 10 in his book spite the rain, I loved it when he told us the number.
He will be missed but was much enjoyed.
Nancy

I am so sorry to hear about Jim Bosley he seemed to be a fixture in our house while I was growing up and he will be missed greatly. Jackie
