Press release from the Clackamas County Sheriff

This is a press release from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office

On Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at approximately 5:45 a.m., the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office was notified by the Clackamas County Medical Examiner's Office concerning the death of a newborn baby in a home near Oregon City.

Because of the un-attended (not a medical facility) death of the baby, the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office directed detectives from its Child Abuse Team (CAT) to respond to the scene and assist the Clackamas County Medical Examiner with the death investigation.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office has been informed the child was born on Saturday, Sept. 26 in the late afternoon.  The parents of the deceased notified the on-scene Deputy Medical Examiner that the baby passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009.

The Clackamas County Deputy Medical Examiner recovered the body of the baby from the home and immediately transported the deceased to the Oregon State Medical Examiner's office for a forensic autopsy.

As of today (Tuesday, Sept. 29), The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office continues to assist the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office with their ongoing investigation concerning the death of this newborn child.
