Search suspended for missing Wash. mom
NORTH OLYMPIA, Wash. – The search for a missing Washington mother has been suspended for the weekend.
Shantina Smiley disappeared last Saturday night after getting lost on a drive from Silverdale to Castle Rock. A day later her van was found partially submerged in an inlet of Puget Sound near Olympia.
The body of her 8-year-old son washed ashore on Fox Island on Thursday. His death has been ruled an "accidental drowning," though authorities now are saying several reports of abuse against the boy had been reported.
