These "poor people" also failed to mention that they've been living in this huge home for months, MONTHS, without paying a dime. I pay my mortgage, and if I ever stopped paying it I wouldn't feel entitled to live for FREE.
Â
KATU needs to tell both sides of the story. These people deserve no sympthany for their financial mess. THEY signed a $650k mortgage to pull cash out of their Alameda mansion. THEY stopped paying their bills.Â
Funny how this couple fails to mention that there original loan was for $650k, and that at the time of their foreclosure they had judegments against them for another nearly $35k (Capital One, $5000+, Fred Millard Attorney at Law, $2600+, Quick Collect Inc, $3600+, Asset Systems Inc, $23k+) . Â Also, when the bank did put their home up for auction, the bank DISCOUNTED what they owed by several hunderdred thousand. That means the bank was willing to take a short sale, but the "home owners" would not cooperate!
Â
Explain why these wealthy bums should be entitled to keep a home they aren't paying for?? Not only do they think they should keep the home, they think the bank should pay them $50,000!! Â No one put a gun to their head when they signed those loan documents. Maybe its time they look in the mirror and stop pointing fingers at the "evil banks" and take some responsiblity for their poor financial decisions.Â
My heart went out to this family and I wanted to agree withem that the wrongful harrassment and financial rape by the banking industry which enjoyed the bailouts not that long ago needs to be legally answerable. I would like to share the similar experience of my friend.
Â
Pam was a hard-working, upbeat,  honest, sincere, single mother who experienced her share of temporary tough times.
Â
Her bank offered a variable interest rate refinance on her home.
At that time she was assured an easy modification would replace that when her situation improved.
Given the information she had at the time, she accepted.
Â
After a period of time, she was more secure and began countless futile requests for the promised modification.
Â
As is common place now adays, the bank "lost" paperwork, needed "additional" documents or otherwise engaged in a series of manouvers to stall the reduction of their excessive profits.
Â
Pamela's interest rate now had ballooned to the point that it now created havac in her budget and she made frequent calls and emails that were ignored.
Â
The Bank was more than happy to continue reaping the excessive payments.
There were no legal protection from these "LOAN SHARKS"
Â
One day she finally was able to reach an bank executive to discuss the wrongdoing of the bank and hope bloomed in her spirit at last.Â
Â
Maybe she used the wrong choice of words to express how their legal rape of her finances were devestating ability to pay all her bills.
" I am so frustrated and upset by your conduct, Â that you guys make me want to go in my bathroom and hang myself!" she cried.
(She always was the jokester in our group and those of us who appreciated her, enjoyed her dramatic liscense in order to make her point)
Â
The evil banker humored her and kept her on the phone while calling # 911 to report a "suicide" call.
Now he knew better. His knowing misuse of power meant for sincere situations was intended for control, punishment and harrassment
Â
Minutes later the doorbell rang.
Still begging for rightful assistance from the banker, with phone in ear- she answered the door and found a Clark County Deputy standing on her doorstep.
Â
Not knowing what the banker had done, she whispered in fear, "Is it My son?"
"No." he shook his head
"Is it my daugher?" as tears of terror filled her heart.
"No" he declined seriously
Puzzled, she said, "Huhh? Is it me?"
This time he nodded and asked to come in for a "welfare check"
Â
All this time the banker kept her on the phone in order to achieve his legal act of harrassment. Glancing at the phone-then deputy, then phone again she realized the extent she had been duped.
Â
"Please come in," she urged the deputy. "Let me show you how absurb that comment was...see, I am 5'9" tall and my bathroom was built by The Seven Dwarfs!  I couldnt hang myself if I tried"Â
She explained she was just trying to get the bank to understand the harm they held her hostage to.
Â
She was placed in the patrol car and taken to the same local hospital that she worked, for a "mental health 72 hour hold assessment".
Â
Indignity. Embarassment. Anger. and Confusion warred in her mind as she witnessed coworker's curious stares at her in "that secure room" in the ER.
Â
She had to call her supervisor to advise her she wouldnt be able to work her shift which began moments from then. Now she added worry of termination to the loss of her home and self respect.
Â
After completing that evaluation process, she was released and presented with a huge bill of Several thousand dollars. She felt she had no choice but to file for bankruptcy protection and to lose the humble home she raised her children in.
Â
All of this was done legally to my friend by a major bank in our All American City.
Â
Why are the greed merchants allowed to cause such harm and shame without answering to the courts.
If you or I did that to someone, there would be a price to pay.
