Mystery gardener spruces up Red Cross office grounds
VANCOUVER, Wash. - The Vancouver Red Cross is thankful for an unexpected surprise.
An anonymous Good Samaritan came and gave the garden at the Red Cross office building a complete makeover during the weekend.
The yard had been suffering from neglect because the Red Cross budget does not allow for lawn care and they rely solely on volunteers.
The mystery gardener clipped the hedges, pruned the roses, mowed the lawn, cleaned up all the debris and then left without taking any credit or leaving any clue as to their identity.
Red Cross spokesperson Shirley Morgan was pleasantly surprised at the neat-as-a-pin groundskeeping.
"It's one of those mysteries you're really not sure you want to find out because the mystery of it is so delightful!" Morgan said.
Residents who live in the area say they did not see anyone performing the yard work.
