PORTLAND, Ore. - Folks in Northeast Portland got the Sunday Parkways party started right this weekend.
On Mother's Day, the city closed down a few streets surrounding Alberta, Fernhill and Woodlawn parks so folks could enjoy a car-free bike ride or walk through their neighborhood.
And with the sun shining bright and temperatures in the 80s, lots of people took advantage of it.
Although it's still spring, it sure looked a lot like summer outside and for Portlanders who are used to rain, it was a pretty nice change. Everyone broke out their shorts, sunglasses, sandals and tank tops.
Each area of town will get its own 'Sunday Parkways' day throughout the summer months. Here's a look at the upcoming schedule:
- June 24 - North Portland
- July 22 - Southwest Portland
- August 26 - Southeast Portland
- September 30 - East Portland
