Wanted: Your fond memories of Peninsula Park

PORTLAND, Ore. - There's no question that our city's parks are fantastic places to play, relax, spend time with loved ones and even get married.
And at Peninsula Park, which will be celebrating its centennial next summer, there is a long history and plenty of stories to be told from over the years.
To commemorate the park's 100 years, Portland Parks & Recreation wants to hear those stories. Specifically, they are looking for your most memorable moments at the park, which they'll be putting together for next year's big celebration.
Did you get married at the park? Did you use the community center when you were a kid? Did you meet your best friend there?
You can share your memories by calling Danielle Solomon with Portland Parks & Recreation at (503) 823-6175 or by sending her an e-mail.
The only memories I have of Peninsula park are of not feeling safe. That park has been a magnet for crime ever since I can remember, which is over 25 years now.
It's a beautiful park, and the roses are awesome when they're in bloom.
Aside from that, my only memory of it is stepping in some dog poop.
It is a beauful park. Â I have driven by it many times with the thought "I want to stop and check it out." I was always on my way to work or home. Â My loss, I haven't. Â 700 N Rosa Parks Way is worth the drive and having the time to actually visit it.
Wanted: Your fond memories of Peninsula Park........
Â
Reward of thousands for anyone that can find a fond memory.
Â
Memories are VERY elusive. If you capture one, PLEASE contact us immeadiately!
I remember about a decade ago there was a double murder....oh, never mind. Probably not the story you wanted to hear.
Â
Oh yea, I remember that rape....oops, not a good one.
Â
Okay, that gang banger drug deal gone bad...crap. I give up. Don't have any fond memories of  Peninsula Park.
My fondest memory was about fifty years ago when you could actually enjoy the park without being mugged or shot by some weirdo or gang member. Â Not just this park, any park in Portland. Â Now they are all dangerous, especially at night. Â If it isn't the criminal element causing problems, it's the pan handlers and dead beats. Â
Like getting robbed and shot at while walking through the park at 7pm in the summertime.
