WOODBURN, Ore. - Creating jobs and providing shopping, Woodburn is aiming to please by adding stores.
The popular Woodburn Company Stores will expand by 39,000 square feet. In total, 14 stores are going to be added.
That means Aerosols, Yankee Candle, Crocs and Charlottee Russe, to name a few, will be opening their doors at the outlet mall.
Even Asics and Helzburg Diamonds are bringing their first outlet stores ever to Woodburn. These two stores will be the first in the entire United States. The Disney Store is joining in too, opening its first outlet in Oregon.
General Manager Kristy Kummer-Pred said it's not just boosting the economy but in the short term it's also creating jobs.
"We have about a thousand employees here now, full or part time, so with another fourteen stores, figure another couple hundred people at least, full time," she said.
Right now teams of contractors work to make the targeted opening day, which is Labor Day. Then the rest should be opened by this fall.
Project Superintendent Nate Weide is just hoping they can be finished in time.
"Coming down to the last two weeks is gonna be really stressful," he said.

Yep just what we need around there is MORE TRAFFIC!! It is So bad now I won't even go near the on ramps. I will drive the couple miles around just to by pass that MESS around there. Weekday or weekend, doesn't much mater. They(the Mall)Â should have had to up grade the local road BEFORE they could put in anymore stores. Does a lot of good to have all the extra 'jobs' and stores if NOBODY can get there - to work or shop!
I guess you didn't hear how many employees and jobs they provide in this sluggish economy...1,000! Who cares where these goods come from. We're fortunate to have this type of outlet mall located near Portland and Salem. As far as parking goes, get over it or don't shop there on the weekends, simple as that!
I've only been down there once in the last five years or so, last spring on a Saturday, and it was nearly impossible to find a parking space. So tell me, are they adding parking spots? it seemed awfully landlocked, and I would think more stores = more traffic, which would be incredibly annoying, parking-wise.
Would someone who really knows please tell all of us:Â What is the percentage of goods sold by 'outlet store' malls NOT made in China?
@Gravity Works! You forgot Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia.Â
