He's back: Wandering wolf returns to Oregon from California
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — After wandering for about a year in Northern California, the wolf known as OR-7 has returned to Oregon.
The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Department says he crossed the border Tuesday evening into southwest Klamath County.
And, the agency said Wednesday, it's possible OR-7 will be dividing his time between the two states.
OR-7 has traveled at least 3,000 miles in his three years. He broke away from a pack in northeast Oregon and trotted southwest in what biologists think is a search for a mate or another pack.
Biologists say his travels are extraordinary because most wolves tend to stay close to their place of birth.
His name marks him as the seventh Oregon wolf fitted with a tracking collar.
He crossed into California on December 28, 2011, the first confirmed wolf in the Golden State since 1924.

"... first confirmed wolf in the Golden State since 1924"
The state of Califorina lies.  I've seen wolves in the NE quad of the state beginning in the  80's and when I reported it to the wardens, they just lied saying "there are no wolves in California"... until some rancher killed 6 of them, and got thrown in jail for it.  He was quickly released and the story hushed up,  but not before it came out that they had secretly placed that pack in the hills.
aw! he's cute!
I want to know when brown bears are going to be reintroduced into Oregon.
Even the wolf couldn't stand California.
I'm OR-65, after wandering the NW I haven't found a mate yet either. Tough climate out there.
@Quaoptician LOL!
Have you checked your breath? I hear that eating rabbits and squirrels and such can leave it smelling a bit...rancid. And check for bits of fur between your teeth, too. ;-)
