One of two hikers stranded on an 18-inch ledge in the North Cascades made contact with rescuers Thursday morning and said the condition of the woman he was hiking with is deteriorating. The two are hypothermic, and rescue helicopters are not able to fly into the area. Read more »

Garry Rogers of the Geological Survey of Canada says the 6.1 temblor was too small to trigger a tsunami. He says there were two other quakes Wednesday in the same area with magnitudes around 5 and several tremors earlier in the week. Read more »
