'Persons of interest' Web site unveiled
This is a press release courtesy of the Washington County Sheriff's Office The Washington County Fraud and Identity Theft Enforcement Team unveiled a new web site that features the pictures of people who are of interest to law enforcement. Community members are encouraged to visit the Web site to help law enforcement put names to some of the featured faces.
People are mobile and connected more today than ever before. We travel more, use mass transit, we talk on cell phones, and we "meet" people online. When crime strikes, someone usually knows what happened. Often detectives have a picture of a person who has a critical clue in a case – are you that person? Do you know someone in these pictures? Have you seen their picture online or met them in a park or at a party? The people in these pictures are persons of interest or potential witnesses to a crime. Some of them just happened to be present right before or after an incident. They may have seen a car or a person, or noticed a detail that could solve a crime. Please take a look at the photos and consider whether you can help. We can keep your information confidential. If you have information about the identity of any person in these photos, please use the e-mail links provided or call the Washington County Sheriff's Office (503) 846-2500 or the Fraud and Identity Theft Enforcement Team at (503) 615-3483. Citizens should not attempt to contact or apprehend any of these people. We cannot be 100% sure of the level of involvement of any person until we talk with them and we do not want to put any citizen at risk. The FITE Team includes investigators from the Washington County Sheriff's Office, Hillsboro Police Department, and the U.S. Postal Service.
