Wall of Hope back up at TVF&R station

PORTLAND, Ore. - Kaine Horman, the father of missing 7-year-old Kyron Horman, led the way as he and a group of people carried the chain link section of his son’s Wall of Hope to its new location on Tuesday.
Just over a week ago, volunteers moved the wall from its original location at Skyline School to the Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue station down the street because of safety concerns.
TVF&R made a grassy area at the station available for the wall’s new location and on Tuesday Kaine and a group of volunteers attached it to new fence posts.
Also on Tuesday, students went back to school at Skyline, and Kaine was a little melancholy about his son not being home for the first day of school. But he was also filled with joy over the amount of support he got from community members who helped move the Wall of Hope to its new home.
“I don’t know really how to describe it,” Kaine said. “It’s a good day, and I’m glad that it’s here. I’m glad it stayed in the community where we all belong, and we’re all a part of it. It’s just really a good day.”
Kyron has been missing for 96 days and his eighth birthday is on Thursday. Kaine said he and Kyron always did something special on his birthday.
He said the wall represents the hope for Kyron’s safe return and said he is confident his son will be home. He’s already signed Kyron up for soccer and has talked to his teachers about preparing for Kyron’s return to classes.
Desiree Young, Kyron’s biological mother, sent out a statement Tuesday expressing her hope that her son will be home soon. "We hope and pray that Kyron will be able to come home for his birthday," she wrote.
Those wishing to visit the Wall of Hope will need to park away from the fire station, according to a spokesman for TVF&R.
"We know the public will want to park on district property to view the Wall of Hope and they're welcome to visit, but please remember that the Skyline Fire Station is a working fire station and fire apparatus do depart and return frequently," said TVF&R Communications Officer Brian Barker. "Because of this we cannot allow the public to park, turn around or stage on the driveway in front of the station."

Kryon's birthday celebrations
While the search for Kyron continues, folks do not want to let his birthday go by unnoticed. That's why the Portland-area community is remembering Kyron with two events this week.
On Thursday, the day of Kyron's birthday, there will be a celebration at West Main Church of Christ in Medford at 7 p.m. They will be playing music that he loves.
Also the women who run the Missing Kyron Horman Facebook page are organizing a party at the Family Fun Center & Bullwinkle's Restaurant in Wilsonville, which was one of Kyron's favorite places to go. The event will be held Sunday, Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. (cake and ice cream will be served at 2 p.m.). Proceeds will go to the Kyron Horman Foundation to aid in the continued search.
There will be free digital fingerprinting, free DNA kits and safety information. The Clackamas County Canine Unit will be there as well with McGruff the Crime Dog.
