Downpour hammers down Kent, Wash. warehouse

KENT, Wash. (AP) - Heavy rain overnight collapsed part of a warehouse roof in Kent and flooded another nearby business.

The fire department responded to an alarm shortly after midnight that was caused when the collapsing roof damaged the warehouse sprinkler system. Firefighters shut off the water and power.

The fire department says workers at a nearby Kent business called 911 for help because of waters in offices. Firefighters helped cover up computers and files.

The National Weather Service office in Seattle said .42 inch of rain fell at Renton in the six hours before 4 a.m. Wednesday and .44 at Sea-Tac Airport.

Meteorologist Kirby Cook says damp, unsettled weather is likely through the weekend.
