Man, 20, killed when motorcycle hits car
On October 10, 2007, at 11:45 a.m., Hillsboro Police and Hillsboro Fire departments responded to a motorcycle vs. automobile crash on 185th Avenue just north of Walker Rd. in Hillsboro.
The motorcycle, ridden by Eric Joseph Stein, 20, was traveling north on 185th at approx 35 mph. The car, a 2000 Ford Taurus sedan silver in color driven by Kerri Lynn Garcia, age 24, of Hillsboro was turning left from the Applebee's parking lot on the east side of 185th onto southbound 185th Ave.
The motorcycle collided with the left rear door of the Ford and Stein was thrown from the motorcycle.
The motorcycle had right of way, and Garcia states that she did not see him.
Stein sustained serious injury and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Preliminary tests indicate that no drugs or alcohol were involved and no citations were issued, however this case remains under investigation by Hillsboro Police and the Washington County CART team.
Garcia has not been cited yet, but investigators are looking at charges of careless driving.
