GRESHAM, Ore. - Five people - including a police officer, an inmate who was being taken to detox and an infant - ended up in the hospital Thursday night after a car careened through an intersection and struck a police cruiser.

The crash happened around 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of 242nd and Stark.

According to police, an SUV ran a red light and slammed into a police cruiser, which then hit a minivan, which then struck another vehicle.

Five people were taken to area hospitals. None had life-threatening injuries.
