PORTLAND, Ore. - In this week's 'Fugitive Alert,' we put the spotlight on a man who detectives believe broke into an apartment, stole a professional photographer's high-end camera and then sold it on Craigslist.

"The guy that bought the camera ends up being involved in law enforcement," said Detective Dave Anderson with the Portland Police Bureau's East Precinct.  "One of his friends is a deputy sheriff out in Washington County.  He was on a ride-a-long and he ran the serial number to the camera and it turned out the camera was stolen."

The suspect is Chris Cushman, a Gresham High School graduate who advertises on MySpace and other Web sites that he is a male model.

Detectives gave Cushman the chance to come clean, but he ran.  He is also wanted on a probation violation for drugs.

Cushman is believed to be in the Portland metropolitan area, despite chats with him online where he indicates his is in a hot climate. He was last spotted in the Gresham area in July.

"We've had a couple of conversations on the phone and on MySpace and he is avoiding turning himself in to us," said Anderson.

If you see Cushman, police urge you to call 911 and report his whereabouts immediately. You can do so anonymously.
