PORTLAND, Ore. - Five people were shot in what police believe was a gang-related shooting at an after-hours party at a northeast Portland warehouse early Saturday.

None suffered life-threatening injuries during the incident, which involved gunfire at multiple locations, police said.

According to police, it all started shortly after 4 a.m. during some kind of argument at the doorway of the warehouse at 5230 N.E. 42nd Ave.

During the argument, someone fired into the building, hitting five people inside. It was not clear what the argument was about or whether those people were the intended targets. More gunfire erupted along North Emerson Street at the intersections of Northeast 42nd Avenue and Northeast 46th Avenue, police said.

Police found three victims at the scene while two others admitted themselves into Legacy Emanuel Hospital, police said.

Investigators did not immediately release their names.

Police found at least a dozen casings inside the warehouse and all along the next couple of blocks.

The warehouse, which is advertised on the Internet as a newly started event center, is an afterparty spot.

Police said such afterparties are usually illegal, but they cannot stop them.

And when the party is interrupted like it was early Saturday, police said it is hard to get people to cooperate.

Anyone with information on the incident was asked to call Detective Doug Halpin at (503) 823-2092.
