Police on the lookout for suspect they say opened fire on two men

TUALATIN, Ore. - Police are on the lookout for a man who opened fire on two people in a Tualatin neighborhood and then fled the scene.

The shooting happened just before 5 p.m. near Meridian Park Hospital in the 20600 block of Southwest 65th Street.

According to police, two men were working in a shop when a man they both knew approached them and immediately opened fire with a long-barreled firearm. The motive is unknown.

One of the men, a 33-year-old, was hit and suffered a gunshot wound near his mid-section.  He was taken by LifeFlight to the hospital.  Police said he was conscious and breathing.

The other man, a 34-year-old, was not hit and cooperated with police.

The suspect fled the scene and police are now looking for him.  He has been identified as 33-year-old Kenneth James Leeper and police say he should be considered armed and dangerous. 

Suspect Description

  • 5 feet, 9 inches tall
  • Weighs approximately 150 pounds
  • Has a shaved head (brown hair)
  • Has brown eyes
  • Is clean-shaven

Leeper is believed to be driving a 1996 white Dodge Dakota truck with an extended cab and Oregon license plates XNH 373. 

He has two prior arrests for DUII and assault.  He is also believed to have previously resided in both Lake Oswego and West Linn.
