PORTLAND, Ore. - A self-described gang member started a fight with two men on a TriMet bus Wednesday morning, leading to his arrest, police said.
According to police, the incident started shortly after 5 a.m. in the area of Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Northeast Roselawn Street.
Police say a man walked up to two Hispanic men sitting at the back of a bus, told them he was a gang member, pulled out a knife and a pair of brass knuckles and starting fighting with them, police said.
As the victims struggled to get control of the knife, the bus driver activated an alarm notifying police of trouble and then ordered everyone off the bus, police said.
The fight then spilled out onto the street, where it continued until police arrived and broke it up.
Members of the Gang Enforcement Team were called in to investigate the case.
Andres Napolean-Marcos, 20, was lodged in jail on one count of first-degree attempted assault, one count of unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of second-degree assault and two counts of menacing.
The victims suffered minor injuries and were not hospitalized. TriMet and Portland police released video of the event on Thursday.
