PORTLAND, Ore. - It has been a violent weekend in Portland so far - with three people shot in two separate incidents.

In each case, the victims are not helping police solve the crime.

The first shooting happened Saturday morning when a man was shot after he got off the bus at North Fessenden Street and North Richmond Avenue. He was hit at least once in his back side but did not suffer life-threatening injuries, police said.

Then Saturday evening, a large group of people were gathered near the intersection of North Fremont Street and North Williams Avenue when someone opened fire, striking a man and a woman. Police believe the incident was gang-related and not random.

The woman was scheduled for surgery Sunday to remove a bullet that was lodged near her spine, police said.

The man remained hospitalized with a collapsed lung Sunday, police said.

Investigators did not immediately release either of their names.

Police found a gun in the area of the shooting but had no immediate suspect.

Anyone with information on that incident was asked to call Detective Lori Goodwin of the Gang Violence Response Team at (503) 823-4106.
