PORTLAND, Ore. - Cold, unstable air will continue to move over the Northwest this weekend, which means snow levels will remain low.

Up in the mountains, a winter storm warning from the National Weather Service will remain in effect until 12 p.m. on Saturday, with 4 to 8 inches of sticking snow expected above the 500-foot level.

The Oregon Department of Transportation is keeping a close eye on roads in the coast range, which will likely be slick over the weekend. Chains are required on all highways north of U.S. 20.

The cold air will stick around through Sunday, which means the greater Portland/Vancouver area could see a few more flakes before temperatures warm back up again. Hail is a possibility as well.
