Driver survives after tree lands on his SUV

WOODBURN, Ore. - A 26-year-old man walked away uninjured after a large tree landed right on top of his SUV, smashing the back end of the vehicle but missing the cab area where he was sitting.

The incident happened in the 300 block of Settlemeier Avenue in Woodburn.

Police and firefighters were called to the scene and by the time they arrived, bystanders had already helped Servando Ascencio Torres get out of his 1998 Ford Explorer.

The tree, estimated at over 60 feet tall, struck the back seat and trunk area. No other damages were reported.
