Frightening scene at Willamina slumber party
WILLAMINA, Ore. - It was a frightful scene in this small Yamhill County town over the weekend after a woman allegedly slashed a teen girl in the head with a knife during a slumber party, causing the injured girl to frantically try to get help from neighbors.
It happened at a home at 511 N.E. 3rd St. about 2 a.m. Saturday, the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office said.
According to The News-Register of McMinnville, a group of teens was drinking alcohol at the home and one of them - a 16-year-old girl - was attacked with a butcher knife.
The girl ran to nearby homes for help, leaving bloody handprints on some residents' windows, neighbor Jason Mayfield said in an e-mail to KATU.com
Yamhill County sheriff's deputies arrived and took the girl to Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville, where she was treated for the head wound and released.
Deputies arrested 27-year-old Amber R. Weidner in connection with the crime. Weidner lived at the home but her relationship to the injured girl was not immediately clear.
Weidner was booked into the Yamhill County jail on charges of second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
