EAGLE, Idaho - A 51-year-old woman died Friday afternoon after she was bucked from her horse into a deep canyon.

The incident happened in the foothills north of Eagle, Idaho.

Reports indicate that a man and woman were riding in the area when the woman's horse got its hoof caught and then bucked the woman. She likely fell about 120 feet.

"The terrain is very difficult," said Linda Scopelliti, paramedic. "It's very steep and rocky terrain."

Officials had a difficult time recovering the body and used several methods, including ATVs, to reach the woman. A helicopter was sent to the scene but was not able to safely land.

The horse that bucked the woman did not fall.
