KATU interviews with the Democratic candidates

Jeff Merkley
The Oregon House speaker came up virtually tied for second with political newcomer Candy Neville in an April poll. He said the results showed most voters were still making up their minds in the race and came before he started advertising on television.

Candy Neville
The real estate broker and peace activist said she opted to run for U.S. senate due to her agony over the war in Iraq. With only $700 in campaign cash, she is counting on the Internet to get her message out.

  Steve Novick
The Portland activist came in first in a poll conducted exclusively for KATU in April. The short-statured Novick said he will fight for the little guy, work hard, tell the truth and make people laugh every once in a while.

David Loera
The retired mental health counselor is proposing establishing a 1- or 2-year moratorium on any immigration changes until a permanent solution is reached at the national level.
