Police arrest man after hit-and-run incident
PORTLAND, Ore. - One person was hospitalized Friday morning after being hit by a van in southeast Portland.
Police said Philip Scott Freimann, 28, was driving a white van on Southeast Powell Boulevard at about 2:50 a.m. when he hit a pedestrian and drove away.
Officers responding to the scene found Samuel Grammar, 62, injured and in need of medical assistance. He was transported to Oregon Health and Science University.
A short time later, investigators found the white van parked on Southeast Stark Street. The van had a shattered windshield and damage to the hood.
Police said they found Freimann at a nearby apartment.
He was charged with felony hit and run and reckless driving.
Grammar is expected to survive his injuries.
