Earlier this Sunday morning, May 4, 2008 at 3:30 a.m., a Clackamas County Sheriff's Patrol Deputy was monitoring southbound traffic with radar on I-205, near Southeast Otty Road.

While this deputy was monitoring traffic, a 2005 Subaru Impreza registered 138 mph on the sheriff's radar system as it sped south on I-205.

The deputy activated his emergency lights and attempted to catch up with this eluding vehicle as it proceeded southbound on I-205.

The suspect vehicle, transporting three occupants, exited from I-205 onto SE Sunnyside and failed to negotiate an intended westbound turn onto Sunnyside Road. The vehicle crashed into the center meridian and all three occupants fled the scene of the crash on foot.

The suspect driver was apprehended by pursuing deputies while attempting to flee on foot in the vicinity of Southeast 87th and Oak Bluff, in Clackamas. The two remaining unidentified (passenger) occupants fled the scene of the crash and were not apprehended.

The apprehended suspect driver is identified as Aleksandr A. Sklyarenko (born in August, 1982) with a residential address in Portland. Sklyarenko was transported to the Clackamas County Jail and lodged for a number of offenses.

Arraignment is scheduled for Monday, May 5 at 3 p.m. in the Clackamas County Circuit Court, in Oregon City.
